SVP Supplemental Benefits
Commonly asked questions about the BeneRē captive model
What makes BeneRē different?
By offering better supplemental benefits coverages with lower premiums for employees and full transparency for employers, plus potential year-end dividends on unused premiums to be reinvested in employee benefit programs, BeneRē is changing the way people think about, offer, and access supplemental insurance.
What is a captive and who oversees it?
It is an insurance company that exclusively reinsures the risks of firms belonging to that group. BeneRē is domiciled in Arizona and is regulated by that state’s Department of Insurance (DOI). They monitor BeneRe’s issuance of policies, collection of premiums, disbursement of claims, financial stability and compliance with all regulatory requirements as with any standard insurance company.
What is the biggest benefit to employees?
A recent Bankrate study found that 60% of Americans don’t have enough money to cover a $500 emergency expense. BeneRē is designed to provide a solution to this overwhelming challenge by delivering supplemental benefits policies, including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity programs, with better coverages and lower premiums than the market currently offers.
What is the biggest benefit to employers?
Many of the companies we work with have found that BeneRē offers them a diverse array of benefits and advantages. Chief Financial Officers appreciate the value of the fiduciary transparency the program offers. Human resource professionals like the benefits of an attractive employee offering that can be used as a valuable hiring and retention tool. Finally, potential year-end dividends on unused premiums allow employers to continue to enhance benefits offerings.
Can you expand on the possible year-end dividends and their utilization?
All distributions earned by participating employers must be reinvested in programs covered under their Summary Plan Description or “Mega-wrap” document. These may include employee wellness programs, benefits administration expenses, enrollment communications or a multitude of other important initiatives. In short, employers must abide by the Department of Labor rules and regulations that already apply. These potential dividends allow companies to continue to affordably build out employee-focused programs.
Is the supplemental program backed by high-quality carriers?
BeneRē reinsures 100% of the program but the issuance of policies, handling of customer service and adjudication of claims are all handled by the most respected insurance companies in America. These A+ rated carriers are recognized as being leaders in their field and help to bring instant credibility to the supplemental plans you offer your employees. They are brands that everyone is already familiar with.
How will I know BeneRē is truly a better plan for our employees?
Unless employees would receive the same or better coverage at the same or better price, BeneRē will not allow participation in the captive model. We’ll perform an analysis on your current plan to see if the BeneRē model will offer your employees better coverage at lower premiums. BeneRē will only allow an employer to join if the insurance program is improved for the employee. Our entire model is built around leveling the playing field for employees.
